Quite a combination, huh? Made you look though. This combination has made me lose all of my Zyprexa weight and I am still losing. I started doing the treadmill after losing my first 15 lbs. I also ate more fruit/vegatables(anything green). After doing this for a couple months and walking my dog 3X day, my need for type 2 diabetes med-Actos was eliminated. I now have blood sugars between 90-110 and HbA1c of 5.(I still test regularly). My blood pressure went from 144/85 to 110/78(that's what it was yesterday, anyways). My advice-talk to your doc "straight" about your meds, diet, and lifestyle goals. I'm not bragging about my weight loss, I was less aware of my appearance as I was of my health-I was a ticking time bomb. |

So...you lost weight naturally once you went of the weight gaining med? Then, I am to understand - after loosing your first 15lbs, you started exercising with frequency and lost even more? I have gained so much weight with Risperdal. I am going off the med. I am hoping that I will naturally loose some of the weight as well... |

Actually, I blame it on the med-Abilify. It gave my legs a "mind of their own." I have lost 73 lbs. total since starting Abilify, but do keep in mind-the med just gets you going, for me anyways, then you have to get out and walk or do the treadmill. I am not bull****ing ya, I have lost the weight and am now down to 220 lbs-still heavy but for a guy at 5'11'' that is doing good compared to 293 lbs. and no energy.
My psych doc says these meds like Risperdal and Zyprexa are more sedating, thus making a person less ambitious and feeling up to doing anything. I know I used to be on 1200mg Seroquel and 9 mg Risperdal at the same time. |

I havn't gained quite that much...25 - 30 lbs. The thing that gets me is that I eat very healty and exercise frequently, but still gain. I took seraquil for one month and actually gained 10 lbs in that month alone. I tried Abilify, but it made me too racy. I felt like I was on the verge of a panic attack all the time and I couldn't sleep, but I did loose some weight. Anyway, my husband and I are trying too have a baby - so I am going off Risperdal all together. I am kind of scared to go off the meds, but I am looking forward to it as well. I am hoping that I will finally loose some of the weight once I go off the med. |
