Hi
I think this started a few days ago, but its starting to become very noticeable.
I recognized yesterday...that when engaged in conversation I am talking very very fast. I am trying to verbalize several thoughts at once. At one point yesterday afternoon...I said a whole lot of stuff....and then felt kind of out of it. I mean by that....the entire conversation felt surreal...and I had to think about whether or not I spoke the words...or just thought them.
In retrospect this has happened to me many times....but I think because I am keeping track of things, I am perhaps noticing it more.
I also didnt sleep last night, so today I know for sure I am becoming manic. Its frustrating....and I take my medication properly. Can this happen even when taking the meds. Good heavens...my poor husband is in for a wild ride this weekend. Although...I will try to curb things. I just hate when my head is all screwed up!

Hi Laurie,
While I was on 1200mg/day lithium I suffered a psychotic manic episode. My psychiatrist confirmed that the 1200mg/day was in fact at the typical therapeutic level, but said that occasionally some patients do "break through" the psych meds.
Can you consult with your psychiatrist today?
