DEPRESSION IS...
Behind this smile such sadness hides,
The rain compensates for the lack of tears in my eyes.
My fear seeps in, creeps in and latches on,
Like a festering wound clinging to my soul.
A bright aura like this, but a tiny hole is all it needs,
For my uninvited depression to come feed off of me.
My eyes betray the pose I try to keep as tears run from me while I sleep;
It doesn’t matter how hard I try, one seed of doubt is all I need.
To fall into that cavern once again…
Depression is like a sick, twisted old friend,
As familiar to me now as all the wounds I tend.
I can hear it waiting in the foliage nearby,
I hear it stalking me each day and night.
If I don’t keep my guard up, he will sneak into my home,
If I let him enter, he won’t leave me alone.
He will drag me down till I can take no more,
Poison my thoughts, for now and ever more.
Relentlessly he tears my sanity in shreds,
Cuts and slices, until he is fed;
Depression is sneaky and deviously sly,
He loves to watch me suffer before I should die.
This cruel and callous adversary I’m forced to face,
He tortures me every day in many ways and in any place.
He takes great pleasure in my sorrow and my pain,
If these emotions linger, he will come to feed again…
To fight against this revolting leech,
Takes so much strength from me;
But I can hardly refuse to fight,
Confront the dark, or forfeit the light…
There is no choice, for life or death is always near,
When you are tormented by depression and fear.
There is no choice, so I will take on this fight,
I will not let him devour me tonight.
And every day I will wake up and fight again,
I refuse to let depression take over and win.

shades of nadia,
You have brought tears to my eyes. If your words where the secret weapon with which to slay depression, then you have already won.
It is an ongoing battle in which people with depression have no choice but to fight, and how utterly tiring it can be.
But you are not alone.
Lets gang up on this dark terror and give him an TKO!!

thank you leeruok,, fighting depression together is the idea,, it's the only way we can truly win, by eliminating isolation.
so i gather you would buy the book if i decided to publish..?

hi leeruok, lol,, not really a morning person, just in a different timezone...i'm in south africa..
and good to know,, i'll send you the very second copy..(already promised the first one to my friend patricia)
more than that, i really so do appreciate you taking the time to read them, it means a lot to me!
it's evening here, and my hubby is not going out to serve the community today, so we'll be wathcing movies tonight and sleepiong as late as my daughter will allow us! but when you get this, good morning to you! |
