been on Olanzapine for 4 day s now im eating like a cow do i stay on them or come off them thing in head are going so fast

Hi

I know it's awful to feel out of control with eating. I was on Olanzapine for a while too. I do think it is worth giving the tabs enough time to see if they calm your mind down first before you decide to come off them ( which in any case, you ahould discuss with your psych first). If the tabs don't work, don't panic, there are others that you can try. Some don't have such a prob with making you want to eat all the time either. I was so bothered by weight gain it was depressing me! My psych chap changed me onto Quetiapine, which I am trialling now. But it has the effect of sending me to sleep all the time, which Olanzapine never did. Anyway, the only advice I can give, is that for now, if you have to eat (remember, I've been there!) then try and munch on things that are not so calorie ladened and remember, it's the tabs telling you you are hungry, not that you are hungry (if that makes any sense at all!!) Ah, I'm sorry - by now you probably want to slap me! I understand. Best thing to do is to discuss it with your psych if it's getting you down, and ask about alternatives etc.

I'm sorry if this advice sounds crass, I don't mean it to be. It's hard, particularly if you are weight concious - I know I am.
