I have been asked why I do not routinely acknowledge important events in our member's lives - like birthdays, hospitalizations, deaths in member's families etc.
I apologize for that. Mark and I devote our weekends to writing software for this community and I check most evenings for any "Notify Administrator" warnings.
Some administrative issues in this community periodically come up that consume a great deal of our time. This further decreases the time I have to read all of our posts. Often I only have time to respond to "Notify Administrator" or "I Disagree" posts.
Fortunately, our democratic community runs very well without the direct involvement of our administrative staff.
There are many of our members who effectively function as our "volunteer administrators". They always give birthday congratulations and condolences on deaths in the family. These "volunteer administrators" are the first to notice when a member stops posting, and they are the first to welcome old members back.
These "volunteer administrators" allow this community to be virtually self-regulating, and not need a formal administrator (such as myself).
I want to thank all of our "volunteer administrators" for their invaluable contributions to the harmonious running of our community.
