Hi I am a new member and 58. Will have 7 years sober July 8th, and when quitting drinking first time around in May of 2000, figured it was alcohol depression in first 30 days and went to doctor who diagnosed me as bi-polar and put me on Zoloft. Been on 100 mg. since then and doing fine. Went to psychiatrist had since 2003 last week. Told him updates since last July of father dying August, mom in October and fiance New Year's Eve and had gone thru the grieving without problems just held on to God.
I also go to school online to get Master's and am going thru menopause past 2 years. He said he was switching me to Wellbutrin XL after all these 8 yrs.! Wants me to take 100 mg. Zoloft bedtime and 150 mg Wellbutrin mornings first week. Then, cut to half tab Zoloft bedtime and 300 mg Wellbutrin second week. I am wondering why he is switching me when am fine and happy? Is it alright to take both together?
This is the last two weeks of Winter Quarter with term papers and finals and do not want to be messed up. Have not started Wellbutrin XL as yet. Read side effects online. Doesn't it have alcohol in it? Please advise.
