I tell ya, I debated, and fretted over tossing an old butt ugle couch for months, and WHAT A DIFFERENCE ! More room, easier to clean up. This couch was so old it looks like the one that the old guy on the Sopranos has. May I keep up this cleaning frnzy. I want a nice home, not a pig sty. The kid, (my son) and I had a great long talk, about how my home reflects my self respect and state of mind, and his too. I have been lucky to be in 3 clean homes lately, and, the key is to dump your junk ! Okay, I am babbbling a bit, I think I am on a hypo thing. I like it. I can't remember if I took any Paxil. I am freaking HAPPY for once in a long time. It's all your falut Stigs, you are always there for me, and God will bless you for it ! Uh huh, I had better close now, or I will end up writing a 2000 page novel. Thanks everyone Newbies, old timers, for being here. Mike, I checked out the web page for anti virus stuff, it's very GOOD ! Thank you for posting the link. I am running a scan right now, and have over 1,200 viruses. ewwwwwww! lol |

Glad you got rid of some junk, I wish I could get up the gumption to do so. It's so refreshing to get rid of useless stuff. I have an inspection coming up this week, so I will be cleaning a lot. |

I have been working on "dematerializing" my home for the last six months - a little bit at a time. I have been quite the pack rat until now, and I had begun to feel very weighed down by "stuff." I think that finding someone to build a life with helped me to look around and see that I was gathering and hanging onto physical things because I was trying to fill a kind of emptiness inside.
I will be a long process, I'm afraid. I've been through the boxes of stuff in the basement and easily culled out the stuff I didn't really want - the easy things. I sent it all to auction. I also put together two bins of heirloom items from the family and gave one to each brother. I don't have children, so it's better that they have it (and more room in my basement!!!).
The next round will be more challenging - I need to go through holiday decorations, which won't be bad, but I also need to go through boxes again. This time will be harder because I'm starting to get to the stuff I like or think I need. When I finally get to the main floor to start considering the items here, it will be even harder. But I'm determined to forge on - ideally I'd like to reduce my possessions by 2/3 of the original mass. I don't plan to be ascetic by any means, but I DO plan to not be a pack rat any longer!
It was soooo hard to get started, but I found that once I did, I was excited to be getting rid of things, just like Lynn!
I had crossed de line of which I had so long been dreaming. I was free; but dere was no one to welcome me to de land of freedom. I was a stranger in a strange land . . . - Harriet Tubman |

MIKE ! I am SO CURIOUS about the Soprano story ! I freaking love that show, It's so interesting, I can't wait for Ralphie to be whacked, (sorry) but he is a creep! Red Star, I am so proud of you, for tossing, Check this out, My Soprano couch is standing on end near the door, waitng to be junked, and I am starting to miss it already, and want it BACK ! My cats are lost with out it, it was their couch ! lol ! OH D5, try not to worry ! I HATE those inspections too. I figure as ong as nothing is a fire hazard you're OK. I love my junk ! I confess ! I actually feel depressed after I toss stuff. On the flip side, going to a nice clean home, is SOOOO refreshing. I need two houses, ! LMAO ! |
