Hi,
Therapy today. My therapist re-iterated to me in today's session that by her assessment, I am not ready to enter a workplace successfully. (That it would be very difficult for me). And truth be told, over the past 3 years it has indeed been difficult--I've quit 2 jobs, one of them I quit after having been singled out by the manager who told me he saw I was *retreating into a shell* and *needed some kind of help...*
And I've been fired from my last 2 jobs mainly because I was *inattentive.*
A little part of me is suspicious that my therapist may be using some sort of voodoo reverse psychology on me to get me to defiantly announce that I am jumping back into the workplace...but *sigh* ...I think I do trust her. I've been with her for nearly 3 years.
Me being unemployed is not pleasing my husband. But my thinking this evening is that it's in God's hands.

Hi,
I was in the hospital last month with depression. I let my job get to me. I was off work about 3 weeks. My psychotherapist told me to go back. I really thought it was to soon to go back. While I was back at work. I was so sleepy and would break out crying. I would also be staring into space. I had an appointment with a doctor. He changed my medicine and I asked him to be off to see how I did on the medicine. For the first time in a long time that I am finally content. I can't get interested in the TV anymore. It don't interest me anymore. I like the quiet and listen to the radio. God is definitely going to take care of you.

I called work today to see if my medical leave was approved and it wasn't. I called the workability line and they said that they haven't receive the paperwork yet. I got so upset that I started crying, my heart pounding and getting real sweaty. I need to get paid. I came across this post and thought, it is really in God's Hands not mine. Thy Will Be Done, not mine.

Yes, it was the Workability Line. It tells you whether you're sick or not. A lot of people has trouble with it. People with different things wrong, they have trouble with it. It's bad that people tell you that you have to go back to work.

Good morning, carolyn77,
How is the workability line able to tell you you are sick? Is it an automated phone system, or are there live operators? I've never used a workability line when I was working. (When I called in sick to work I spoke to a manager who was a real live person). I would have preferred to tell it to a machine instead, a machine probably wouldn't have questions for me, he he.

The workability line is when they sign you a case manager. They only give you so long for the doctor to fill it out. I work in well known factory. You talk to case worker and see how your claim is going. They take forever to do it. Before, you just had to fill out FMLA papers. It was a lot easier. I guess it's getting to be more paperwork.

Hello,
I'm resurrecting this thread. I want to do an occupation outside of my home; I am scared.
Today I talked it out with my therapist. Last Tuesday I talked it out with the couples therapist and my husband. I am sick to death and discouraged when my husband barks at me: "Get a job!" and/or "You're frittering your life away!" and/or "You can work! I know you can! You don't want to work! You just want to sit around the house all day!" (all said in a non-encouraging tone and manner, his eyes narrowed in disapproval and voice raised to a shout as if I'm some kind of simpleton who has to be shouted at simple commands).
I want to get an occupation outside of the house; I feel discouraged and frustrated...AND CONFUSED*.
*more about the confused aspect in a later post, maybe tomorrow.

Hi, This afternoon, I resurrected my pursuit of employment/occupation of some kind, in earnest.
I scanned Craigslist ChicagoReader for art-related positions and clerical/admin/data entry positions. I scanned volunteer Chicago.
I got sidetracked looking on Craigslist at free cats and other pets like miniature lop-eared bunnies. So cute!
I responded to this ad: Immediate opening for part time administrative assistant to attorney located in the South Loop. Need good typing and communications skills. Start at $12-$14 per hour. Perfect for graduate student interested in learning office skills while going to school. Fax resume to ****
I figure I have good typing skills.
So I faxed my resume there. What I do to send a fax is email my resume by attachment to my husband and he faxes it for me from his work.
To whom it may concern: How is your search for occupation going?

Good morning, I'm not going to post my resume to the above website; it's an online work from home deal, and I would rather get a job outside the home at this time.

I feel I'm wasting my life but I'm afraid to look for a job as I've been on disability a long time and It's been 14 years and I'm still not back to "normal" after the last episode and having to go to the hospital for 3 weeks. (Should have been longer) Being sick though has never taken away my desire to work. I wish it did because I can't relax and be content on disability. Ann

I find that most times, I center everything on my self, and not on God. I know God listens, but it is difficult to not just give in to more negative thoughts. Bipolar caught me when I was in college, and it might not,"pray" and hope it gets better. It might not change. It might not get worse. |
