Titled: Fear of the Dark
Light keeps the night at bay
until dawn winks out
below a darkening sky.
black seeps into the room
as night hangs in the air -
a thick paste encompassing all.
He is blinded by shadows
and deafened by sound of heart
thudding its way into his mouth.
Monsters of shadow prowling around -
under the bed and in the closet.
Blackness fills his nostrils
with the stench of fear -
aroma of dank leaves burnt.
Instinct clutches wildly at heart
drowning in darkness,
crushed into submission
by the black of night.
Dawn rises - a bright ribbon
of light tracing over the hills
of dark childhood fear.

Title: Sunrise
The stars,
tears of light,
glistening in the darkness
fading as the sun
engulfs the sky
with its hand of flaming white,
filtering through the atmosphere -
white light through a lucid prism.
Colors exploding forth,
flirting with the passing clouds.
As the light burns away
the mist of another new day -
as snow before a fire.

you go like rats
dancing with death
while freedom taunts
from the shadows
at every turn
a new demon
you will learn
your soul will
twist and burn
out of the light
into the night
stuck in an
endless maze
until the sands
of time run out
racing in the
labyrinth of life.
