How do I show my new pdoc research about medications without insulting her or making her feel like I want to be the doctor? I read that Effexor now has a warning that it can cause homicidal ideations. I said something to my new pdoc about that because I take Effexor XR and often have homicidal ideations when manic, even before the Effexor. She knew about the possibility of suicidal ideations but not homicidal, and she didn't believe me and didn't take me off of the Effexor. I also take lithium and Lamictal. I read on this site that with dysphoric mania lithium is not really effective, but that it responds better to anti-convulsants. Since lithium has so many serious side effects, I'd like to get off of it. I know that it's impossible for any doctor to know all of the side effects and new research about medications. I have an appointment with her next week. How should I approach her about this?
I take effexor XL for mainly anxiety. I don't feel like killing someone if that is any help. More the reverse I feel like people are making me anxious.
