I have received the following email which has apparently come through this community. I will paste it below, NOT because I want anyone to think it is genuine, but to expose to Dr. Long that these things are going on and hopefully enable him to delete the membership of the person involved.

I am Mattins Wilson the only son of late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Wilson. My father was a very wealthy cocoa merchant in Abidjan , the economic capital of Ivory coast, my father was poisoned to death by his business associates on one of their outings on a business trip . My mother died when I was a baby and since then my father took me so special. Before the death of my father on october 2004 in a private hospital here in Abidjan he secretly called me on his bed side and told me that he has the sum of Ten million,five hundred thousand United State Dollars. USD ($10,500,000.00) left in fixed suspense account in one of the prime bank here in Abidjan ,that he used my name as his only Son for the next of Kin in depositing of the fund. He also explained to me that it was because of this wealth that he was poisoned by his business associates. That I should seek for a foreign partner in a country of my choice where i will transfer this money and use it for investment purpose.Dear, I am honourably seeking your assistance in the following ways: (1) To provide a bank account into which this money would be transferred to. (2) To serve as a guardian of this fund.(3) To make arrangement for me to come over to your country to further my education and to secure a resident permit in your country. Moreover, I am willing to offer you 15% of the total sum as compensation for your effort/ input after the successful transfer of this fund into your nominated account overseas. Furthermore, you indicate your options towards assisting me as I believe that this transaction would be concluded within fourteen (14) days you signify interest to assist me. Re: People Spamming Our Members
This week there has been good news, and bad news. The good news is that we got our email bug fixed, and now you can click on a member's name to get to their profile where you can send them a private email.
The bad news is that some unethical individuals newly join our community only to use this email utility to send ridiculous spam. These spams are primitive get-rich-schemes that are so simple as to insult anyone's intelligence.
You Can Help
Please report these members who send you spam email and we will immediately ban them. You can post their names in this discussion thread. I have already banned mattins11 for sending this spam.

If you have banned Mattins wilson at his/her yahoo address how did he/she manage to send me an email the following day through this site?????
Hi Xander,
Mattins used our email utility (accessible by clicking on your name and going to your Profile). We then banned him from our membership. I will have to check if non-members can still send you email from your Profile. If so, we will correct that this weekend.

Dear Members,
For years, our email utility was broken, and we didn't notice. Then recently we fixed it; and ever since our members have been receiving spam emails originating from fraudulant "new members" using our email utility.
Here is my question: should we permanently disable our email utility? I think that it was better before; when all communication was on our public bulletin boards (without private emails).
Could you cast your vote on this issue please?

Just to let you know.
Dear Members, I think we have permanently solved the problem of "con artists" using our email utility to send spam emails to our members. Mark has removed the email utility from our "User Profile".
