Hi, I am new to the board and wanted to know what the symptons are for those of you on wellbutrin. I am taking the generic wellbutrin sr and its been 2 weeks- I havent had any side effects and am feeling a little better....but am not sure yet.
"O Lord you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done marvelous things, things planned long ago." Isaiah 25:1
Hi! I'm taking Wellbutrin SR as well, at 300 mg/day.
The only side effects I had was extreme drowsiness (slept pretty much all day) for the first few days, and mild nausea that lasted for about a week and a half. Oh, and some really strange dreams, too.
I hate to say this, but, depending on how severe your depression is, it's likely that you only think you are feeling better after 2 weeks. My psychiatrist warned me that this is a slow-working drug, and many patients don't see improvement until the second month.
It's also possible to have a "relapse", depending on how bad your depression is. I had three or four of them until about the fifth month.
I'm not even close to returning to "normal" (I have dysthymia so any medication I'm prescribed takes longer to work), but I have seen some improvement, just not as much as my doctor and I would like to see.
I tried other anti-depressants (Zoloft, Effexor, Prozac and Paxil), but they all had very noticeable side effects that really bothered me the whole time I was on them. I like the Wellbutrin because the few side effects I felt were for only a few days. I just wish they worked faster.
Good luck.
Joyce
If you're going through Hell, keep on moving, don't slow down; you might get out before the devil even knows you're there.
Thank you for your feedback on this medication. My daughter just got switched over from Selxa to Wellbutin and it's good to know how long it's going to take to see a difference. Thank you!
