Hello, Im sheree and iv recently turned 21,i have suffered from panic attacks for the past two years and have been diagnosed with PTSD i suffer from panic attacks on a day to day basis, i basically fall asleep with one and wake up with one and it continues all day this has been my life for the past two years, im sick of it and medication does not work, phycologist's dont work for me either....... im sick of this burden and just want it to go away for good!.. I need help big time since nothing helps that iv tryed, breathing techniques dont help, wither does trying to relax it makes the panic worse. !!!!!!!!!!!!! I just need advise or help, i am thinking about giving hypnotherapy a go and hoping that will work for me.
techniques are skills as well. They need to be practiced. One meditation technique is to count your breaths, 1 to 10. If you find that you have counted further, you start from 1 again.
There are relaxing activities one can do: reading, listening to music doing crossword puzzles or word searches.
Of course, learning to relax, or meditate, or even medicine (as you know) only go so far.
You still have to learn to deal with problems in your world.
I have different sayings that i say to myself to help me cope. Sometimes it's as simple as "I'm safe". I'm hypervigilant, and i sometimes freak about things that aren't really threatening to me - other than that they make me frea. So i replace the panicy thoughts i get with a positive message - that is, in fact, much more realistic than my emotional reaction based on past events.
I would suggest that you don't try hypnotherapy. Just as yor have come across psychologists that haven't worked for you, you can come across a hypnotherapist that doesn't work for you. IMO, you should put continued effort into other things that you have control over - even though it will take time to gain real control
