I've been on amitriptyline for 3 weeks, slowly inc by 25mgs each thursday night. Pdoc seeing me for evaluation when I have been on 100mgs per day. Yes its a low dose of the med. I am wondering though if any others of you who have been on this med have experienced a burning skin sensation? I am careful when I am outside to keepd in the shade. It doesn't seem to matter how careful I am.........going outside while I have been on this med causes my skin to go bright red for a couple of hours......even on parts not exposed to fresh air. Its mostly on my upper chest, throat, face and arms. If anyonecould see my right now they would mistake me for that little "angry" emoticon.......... its horrible being like this, and I have more reason for isolating myself from humanity.
When the dr put me on this med, he told me I just had to accept that there would be side effects and put up with them. Nice caring dr I have. I'm scared of what he will say when I tell him about this effect and also tell him that as the day wears on it becomes less and less bearable to wear clothes. They hurt my skin. Yes, I have the sedation sides only to be expected from an old tricyclic, terrible abdominal pain that has me doubled up soemtimes..........when I tell him all this he'll be angry with me for not persevering. Grrrr, I know that this one is not right for me.........I hope he will realise that too.
