I just want to ask people who have been talking antidepressants your opinion on if you think my drugs are working
I'm on cymbalta. I have been on it for about 5 weeks
The main reason I went on is because I am suicidal(I have other issues which made cymbalta the "right" choice for me).
I have never attempted suicide but I thought about it almost constantly.
Well I am still having suicidal thoughts, not nearly as often as before but it's bothering me because I really did not want to go on antidepressants. I know I have not been on it very long so I'm wondering if I should just stick with it.
I have a doctors appointment next week because that will be my 6 week mark.
I will tell the doctor but I just want real peoples opinion. (I don't really trust doctors, I think they are out to drug everyone even if the drugs are not good for the person :-/ )
I would be thankful to any responses. Thank you...
welcome to these caring sharing communities of ours your too now that you have became a member.
I am on the anti depressant Citalopram and find it has a therapeutic effect on me without any nasty side affect.
If I were you I'd continue with what you have been prescribed for they take at least six weeks to kick in. That is why I think you are about to see the doctor again. I personally have never been given Cymbalta so it would be wrong to give you advice on that particular med.
We do have a compendium of all psychiatric medication here on this website... may be if you were to look up same you be given some reassurance which is what I think you are after!
Bye for now, David

I just wanted to post that I weened myself off cymbalta because no doctor would take me off of it even though I was still suicidal and my anxiety seemed to be getting worse from taking the meds.
This is what worked for me in case anyone else wants to come off of it
I kind of did it by accident.
I am forgetful so taking the pills every day was not the easiest
I was on 30mg and got 30 pills in a pack
What I did was i missed one pill in the 2nd week of my June pack then
the 2nd week of Julys pack i missed one again and a week after i missed another one, after missing this one i felt really nauseous
then I missed another in the beginning of August
Then the last week in August I went on vacation and missed 3 days in a row and realized I wasn't feeling very sick, I was a little nauseous but the pills made me nauseous any way so it made no difference.
That day I decided I would stop taking them.... I had headaches and was dizzy some times but it was not near as bad as what I have read online
I'm not sure if that is just how my body dealt with it or if it will help anyone else, hopefully it will
