Has anyone heard of Hoodia? It is extracted from the Hoodia cactus plant in the Kalahari desert and has been shown to 'trick' the hypothalamus into thinking we're full. It has no stimulants, so it won't cause a manic episode.
interesting to see what you find........especially considering the problem of weight gain with our meds. a little help would be nice......Hope you enjoy the group. Blah,Blah,Blah Shelley
Well, I did a little research on the inter-net and found that Hoodia is a catus. I found a site that sells the stuff and claims that they have the best form of it. (of course, they're trying to sell) I didn't look at the price, because I thought that I wouldn't like to see what it was. I think that the best approach to weight loss is meal planning, portion control, and eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables...and exercising. All of which I have a hard time keeping up with for any length of time.

There is no safe, licenced appetite suppressant that works. The only way to lose weight on medication is:
Change to a similar medication that doesn't put on weight.
Exercise more, eat less (i.e., less sugar, less starch, smaller portion size, 6 small meals/day etc.)
