Hi, I am new on here, and I'm a bit freaked out. I went to a psychiatrist recently because I think I have ADHD and he diagnosed me as bipolar 2. He diagnosed and prescribed me drugs within 40 minutes of meeting me which I am not comfortable with at all. He prescribed me with effexor and seroquel.
I honestly don't think I am bipolar, not because of the stigmas but because I would literally be manic, ALL the time. I very rarely get depressed. Has anyone else here thought they had add and was given the diagnosis of bipolar?

I too freaked out when a Dr. diagnosed and prescribed me meds without really knowing me for more than a few minutes!!
It was explained to me the mania can also mean being irritable. I was certainly that!! I never have the excess energy associated with being manic. My "rapid cycling bipolar" presents with irritability and a scattered mind that is compounded with psychotic symptoms that I manage on my own without meds. (NOT RECOMMENDED)
My best advice to you...Find a doctor you trust. One that is willing to take the time you feel you need. You are on the right track going to a doctor. Just don't give up until you find a doctor willing to listen to you.
You are your own best advocate!!
