I have been on medication for a couple of years on and off. I don't really think I get the full effect of it because I miss doses due to me working midnight shifts and remeron makes you very sleepy and hungry.
Hi, this is my first time on this forum. I too was prescribed mirtazapine after having a pretty bad experience with citalapram and have gained 7 lbs in two weeks. It totally makes me miserable to think I will continue to gain weight even though I try really hard to resist and ignore the cravings which the doctor warned me where a side effect of this drug. Does anyone know a similar drug that can be prescribed without this side effect as it does seemed to have calmed me down and evened out my mood swings??
I have been on Remeron for three months now following unsuccessful stints with Cymbalta and Lexapro. The Remeron has been the only med that has helped stabilize my mood. The weight gain is for real, however. I went from 180 - 195 lbs. within the first three weeks of being on Remeron. Since this time, however, my weight has stabilized and since my mood is better, exercise is more palatable as well. Although the remeron jacked my appetite into high gear, it was the sweets specifically that I couldn't get enough of. This is a great drug, particularly if your depression has also depressed your appetite.
I have been on a Mirtazapine (15 mg) and Prozac (50 mg) *****tail for about 7 weeks now. The Mirtazipine was recently introduced and has definitely spiked my eating and weight gain. I am 5'11" and had got down to 138 lbs due to a lacking appetite and non-existant gym attendance. I have gained 20 - 25 lbs since being put on Mirtazipine. I am also attending the gym more regularly and am feeling more confidence and am no longer suicidally depressed. It has been a saviour for me :)!
