Yo, I been on Klonopin for 'bout 6 years now. My doctor prescribed me to 8 milligrams ah day. It helped at first for my SEVERE Anxiety and Palpitations, but now it seems to jus' barely work and I take all 8mg pillz right when I wake up from 3 hours of sleep ah night. I also am on Methadone for past Heroin abuse, I started in January of 2001 on 40mgs/d. and ended up on 220mgs/d. to be on ah stable dose. For the past few yearz I have been slowly weening off of it; I am now on 22mgs/d. I NEVER plan to use Heroin or other opiates ever again. They Drug test me at tha Methadone Clinic every month and Benzodiazapines (Klonopin) Never showz up in tha results and I have no clue why Klonopin doesn't show up cuz I take 8mgs/d. and that is ALOT of Klonopin. I,my Counselor,my Therapist,and my Psychiatrist thinks it dosen't show up cuz I am probably Immune to it. They are going to put me on Ativan and Seroquel soon. I also am on Paxil for depression,Flexeril for tension headaches and neck&shoulder tension, and Maxalt MLT for SEVERE Migraines. I get 4 to 6 migraines every month. I have tried 12 different Anti-Depressants that had No effect, I have also been on many Anti-Anxiety, Anti-Psychotic, and Seizure medications. Oh yeah, I am also a daily Self-Mutilator. Yeah, my life is a BIG MESS and I Constantly think 'bout Death and Suicide, pretty much everyday. If anyone has any advise it would be appreciated.  |

Hey buddy, hows it going? The klonopin doesnt show up on your drug tests because you have been on such a high dose for so long that yes, in a way your body is immune, actually, its more like Klonopin has become part of your body chemistry which is why you would go through withdrawl symptoms if you were to go off it. Or they dont check for benzos. I am on 12 mg a day of Klonopin, have been for about 8 years. I am also on methadone for previous narcotic dependence. And I too am a self mutilator. It seems we have a lot in common. Be careful with seroquel. I was on 2000 mg (yes, thats not a typo, 2000 mg)of seroquel a day. It has fewer side effects than the old antipsychotics but it has a high potential for developing diabetes. So if you are overweight even a little be careful with this drug. I self mutilate in many ways. I have become bored with the cliched cutting that so many goth kids think is cool these days. I dont self mutilate for any other reason except that it makes me feel alive. It is like a drug for me, it gets my adrenaline going and it actually takes me "higher". Anyway, if you have any questions or ever want to chat let me know as I think we have a lot in common and I may have some answers to your questions. | Hey Newcent. Here is a great reason to never go back to these drugs. My 18 yr. old daughter died in November after using heroin and Klonopin. Go Find a really really good therapist and a support group. These drugs killed my daughter; don't let them kill you. |

| I'm a pharmacy student and the current doctor I'm working with has seen this same problem. He has witnessed patients take their clonazepam and they still test negative. The phenomenon isn't completely understood, yet believed to be correlated to the way your body begins to metabolize the drug. That metabolite is then not recognized by the common drug screens. |

Klonopin does not show on some screens. I have seen people OD on Klonopin & have toxicology screen negative for benzodiazepine. Once the hospital switched screens, it now shows up. It has nothing to do with getting immune. You still have it in you whether you react or not. It is like a drunk saying the breathalyzer will be negative because he is used to drinking a lot.
Klopin & heroine can easily kill you.
Have you tried Topamax for migraines? Calcium channel blockers may also work. |
