My new pdoc says I have a mood disorder. I was diagnosis with paranoid schizophenia. The worst drug I have been is Risperdal. It made me wet myself. I was like a zoombie. Stiff walking, no sleep at night and had a hard time seeing. It did get rid of my severe paranoia.
The absolute worst drug is Lithium Carbonate ER. Although it did help with the racing thoughts it has beat my body to hell. It started with me loosing hair - to date I have lost half my hair volume, pale dry skin. I went to my doc for my annual physical and found out my thyroid is shot. I have to have half my thyroid removed due to a nodule and I have an inflammatory response that has made my thyroid not work well. I am now forever hypothyroid and on medication for that for life. This all started with the Lithium. I urge anyone taking Lithium to see your doctor reguarly, get antbodies tests done along with Kidney and Thyroid funtion tests routinely. This drug may help with mania but what good is it if it beats your body to hell. Kidney failure and Thyroid problems are not reversable. I know, I know, they tell you these are not common side effects. I have done alot of research and these problems are more common than even I realized. Had I known what I know now about Lithium, I would not have taken it. Good Luck!
