Hi,this is my first post. I've been depressed for about a year now. Have tried 4 different types of medication and also go to a psychologist once a fortnight or so. I've had so many adverse reactions to the meds that I feel like taking nothing and putting up with the depression, especially since the meds don't do much for lifting my mood anyway. Worst side effects so far have been a painful tongue and now my jaw clicks (thanks to lexapro). Effexor XR initially lifted my mood, but has now plateaued and I'm sweating profusely with little movement or heat. I have the fan and airconditioner on to do housework, even in the middle of winter, because it drips off me and saturates my hair. Will this particular side effect go away as my body get used to the meds? Other meds gave me kreepy legs (restless leg syndrome). This sucks! And the doctors are rarely aware of these effects and even often try to blame other things like menopause etc. I'm only 43...and my hormone tests come back fine. Do any of them know what they are talking about???????
I'm on 300mg Effexor a day without side effects....but no doubt someone else will call in to say hello and have some experience with this. I hope Effexor has plateaued you off in a good place and that you are feeling better except for the sweats.....perhaps for the doctors this is a good trade off.
Im on 225mg effexor xr per day. I have to change my tshirt up to 4 times per day due to excessive sweating. Even during winter, any physical activity brings on the sweating. The drug has worked to lift my mood for the majority of the time, but sweating is embarassing and gets me down. Im going to take myself off it because summer is coming and I cant take it any more. Id love to hear of a drug which is effective to reduce depression but without this side effect
