I am borderline, but only in serious relationships.
When I am single, I feel fine, maybe a little depressed from time to time, but nothing that I can't manage. The feelings of sadness only last 1-3 days at a time, so I recover quickly by exercising or meditating.

I live alone now and have not been in a relationship for awhile, just have dated my ex-boyfriend off and on. I seem to be fairly healthy mentally. I work and have friends and somewhat normal life.

While I lived with my ex boyfriend, I felt crazy.
I had angry outbursts, frequently told him I hated him, and did impulsive things. I would lock myself in a bathroom wanting to die and threaten suicide. I constantly started arguments and expected him to be there for me to help me fix myself, which he couldn't. Now that I know a little more about what I was going through, I want to fix it so that I don't have fear of being in a relationship and treating someone else that way. I moved out of his house almost a year ago. Since then, I bought my own place and seem to be in a pretty good place, however, when we tried to reconcile about 6 months ago, I again destroyed it.
Has anyone had any successes they can share with me or advice??

hey im new here but i think i consider myself borderline as well im socially withdrawn from time to time and during those times feel extremely depressed for short durations but they are painful. im detached at times too from reality because im overly paranoid people are watching me. i can relate to you tho because i been in two relationships and was a totally different person while i was in them, i wasnt as depressed. i kind of wish tho i never had any relationships so i would not have to ever think about the feelings in comparison to when im not in them. i think breaking up is a hard process and sort of triggers detachment in me afterwards. i stopped all my social relationships with friends and with girls for the time being. i need to get the right medicines to feel normal before i begin interacting with the world i feel.

You sort of sound like my boyfriend. He is fine with other people, but when it comes to his relationship with me and his adopted mother he has several angry outbursts. He locks himself in his room for long periods of time. Then, he emerges as though nothing had ever happened. He loves to laugh, but he often allows himself to become extremely angry over trivial things. He was abused in all ways you could imagine. Now, his relationships are suffering because of it.

He is 30 and I am his second serious relationship. He admits that he was mean and cruel to the mother of his first child. Although, he refuses to seek counseling. He thinks that he treats me a hundred times better than he treated his ex. And he's probably right, but he can still be cruel. He isn't physically abusive, but he loves to retaliate verbally. I wish he would get help, but I can't even tell him that I believe he's suffering from borderline personality disorder.
