Well, I have become one step closer to becoming an adult in the real world. I have finally built up my credit score enough to where I can finally put a vehicle in my own name. Now my niece is the focus of my family's attention. She has always been a problem child but now that she is in her late teens, she has become worse. My family is always trying to have us spend time together so that I can talk to her. At first, I was flattered. The fact that my family thought that I was the only one to get through to her was great. I had my own set of problems at that age as well, although not as bad. I did not do drugs or cut school. However, I have become frustrated because even though my family thinks that I am the only one that can get through to her, I think that they have forgotten that my problems were different and not as bad. Not only that, I was not a problem child and despite problems at home, I had straight As in school and manage to make it to college. Now I am working towards my teaching credential in English to work with high school juniors. My point is that, I was not as bad as she is right now, and she is has always been a problem. Every time my family talks about my niece, all of sudden, there is a comparison between how she is acting now to how I was. It is not even the same situation. When people tell me how they like my personality and I respond, "I am just me." It really makes me question things. I am not anybody but me and I should not be compared to my niece who is out of control.

Hi Crying Heart,
Well done on your positive credit rating. I recently checked mine out and i was more than happy with the result. But then I've always been responsible when it comes to my personal finances. I suspect it reflects on having been brought up in economic hardship and having to make do and mend, rather than get in to debt. It certainly helped me maintain a responsible attitude when it comes to living within my means!
Re your niece, it may be that your family's wish to involve you in her growing up, is more to do with the fact that you are a worthwhile influence on helping her sort out her difficulties, and not so much that she reflects what you were like at her age.
At the end of the day, I agree wholeheartedly with what you say "I am me " Which reminds me of Fitz Perle when he says .....

All the best with your journey and I wanted to say thanks to you that with your help. I managed to get all the boom essays review knowledge about computers. Before this, I was totally zero in IT sector and today with the help of your posts today. I know so many things. Bravo!
