i was diagnosed with bp 10 yrs ago. I rapid cycle-can change from manic to depressed within a day, I think for the most part lately I have been experiencing both. This is a very lonely disease. The people you know love you just can not understand. I am a Christian and believe that if I didn't know Jesus personally I wouldn't have made it over the last 10 yrs. My biggest frustration is constantly going back and forth of what I am feeling and what I should do. I have just gone on disability, right now it is for 3 mos, but honestly I do not think I can go back. I have a very stressful job as a home loan officer. It got to the point that I couldn't open files, return calls, pick up calls, the anxiety and lack of concentration was too overwhelming to stay. I knew this was coming for the last 4 mos and have done everything I know to help myself, take a little vacation, cut back on work load. But I knew the inevitable was coming that I just couldn't handle the stress. So then, I feel guilty for being on disability, if only I had more faith during the last few mos. I would have been able to make it. But then again, maybe not. This is only one of the many jobs I have had to leave because of bd. Do I accept my limitation and try somehow to go on permanent disability? Is that giving up? I wish there were clear answers to the thoughts in my head. I have to go now, but if anyone has any suggestions or comments on their own situation, I sure would appreciate it. Thank you.

I see a long time has passed since this topic was posted and I know that my reply may never be read, but I'll post it anyway. I can only say this : Don't give up!
This is a condition you've got to learn to live with. It's good that you're a Christian. I am a Muslim and my faith has helped me a lot in my worse days. Sorry if I couldn't be of more help.
