Many psychiatrists are becoming aware of how the pharmaceutical industry has purposely misled them and their patients. As psychiatrists, we know that medication plays an extremely important role in relieving the suffering of mental illness. Research now has shown that there are minimal differences between the effectiveness of psychiatric medications in the same class. For example, there is little difference in effectiveness between the different antidepressants. Likewise, there is little difference in effectiveness between the different antipsychotics (except clozapine). Unfortunately, the pharmaceutical industry is doing everything in its power to deceive psychiatrists and patients into falsely believing that one drug is superior to another identical drug in its same class. This deception is costing patients literally billions of dollars. Please read the following articles that describe this problem. Suggested Reading
