Dear Members, If you have been treated with lamotrigine (Lamictal) for your Bipolar I Disorder, on the basis of your experience:
- Would you recommend lamotrigine to other members for the treatment of their depressive episodes of Bipolar I Disorder?
- Would you recommend lamotrigine to other members for the treatment of their manic episodes of Bipolar I Disorder?
- What side-effects on lamotrigine did you experience? Were these adverse effects severe?
- How much did one month's supply of lamotrigine cost?
Before you write your review, please use the Yes-No-Unsure buttons on the bottom of this post to indicate if you would recommend lamotrigine to other members. Phil Long M.D. Administrator |

I have not noticed any improvement in mood since I have been taking Lamictal. Not for depression or mania. I am still on this med, as maintenance, to control a relapse. So maybe it is working for this, but ?
Before I received disablity benefits, on my previous insurance I paid 40 American dollars/month for this med...(27 Euro, 39 Canadian dollar.)
I have not noticed any side effects on this medication.

I switched from lithium to Lamictal because I was afraid of getting kidney damage on the lithium. When my psychiatrist asks me how I'm doing on the Lamictal, I'm dumbfounded. I can't tell that I'm on it. Maybe time will tell. I've been taking Lamictal for about one year.

Lamictal has never helped me, as far as I can tell. It's the other things I take that help me. The Wellbutrin is what is currently doing wonders for me. I just choke down the lamictal every morning (It tastes dreadful, just so you know.)
My mom pays $45 copay for the lamictal every month. The price without insurance is several hundred dollars more than that.
It really hasn't done anything for me. My previous doctor just gave me more and more and more of it until I was on 250mg and STILL not seeing a difference. I'm on 37.5mg on it now since I quit taking it and had to restart... the only change I've noticed is that it doesn't matter how big or small the pill is... I always choke on it.
I'm on 150mg of Wellbutrin and I can say I recommend that for depression, focusing issues, dizzyness, headaches. It's helped me with all that.
Unfortunately, I think I'm going manic, but I'm definitely not depressed anymore.
Lamictal makes me angry.
Jody If you're going through hell keep on going don't slow down if you're scared don't show it you might get out before the devil even knows you're there if you're going through hell keep on moving face that fire walk right through it you might get out before the devil even knows you're there.

I can sleep once again. I was on 1.5 mg of Clonazepam at night and I still couldn't sleep at night. Since starting Lamictal I get over eight hours on staight sleep. I'm on 125 mg of Lamitcal. |

Hey ya'll! 21 year old male here. I was diagnosed BP2 almost a year ago and have been on abilify 20mg a day for a while now and about two months ago it just stopped working. I continued to take it just in case it wanted to start working again but now I am back to being very depressed with suicidal thought along with having my old symptoms before meds such as constant thought of other people saying nasty things about me, being followed while driving, severe mood swings and mild halucinations(sp?). My dr has now prescribed me lamital 25mg for two weeks then 50mgs the next two weeks. I have delayed starting the medication due to a warning label that says not to opperate machinery and I am a paramedic who deals with peoples lives and driving a giant ambulance. I'm just wondering if anyone has had any luck or any advise on how it worked for them. Not sure if this is the right section to be posting in, but any advise is good advise to me. =) have a great day ya'll! |
