Dear Members,
Research has shown that submissiveness is often a problem in bipolar depression.
In our Social Quality of Life Scale at:
http://www.mentalhealth.com/qol/IMHQOLScale_4.pdf
Leadership is defined as either:
- High: Is able to act as a leader to encourage a group to get things done.
- Low: Is overly submissive or passive with others.
Could you please tell our community if being submissive or passive was part of your bipolar depression, and what made this better or worse.
Your comments will greatly help others facing these same problems.

I know that I am a strong and independent woman... but I find myself being incredibly passive too often. I know that when I get depressed it usually triggers it and I get more and more passive.
When I'm manic, though, I get incredibly aggressive.
Jody In the moonlight Your face it glows Like a thousand diamonds I suppose And your hair flows like The ocean breeze Not a million fights Could make me hate you You’re invincible Yeah, It’s true It’s in your eyes Where I find peace

Before i was diagnosed i was an employer and did not have much trouble being assertive, over the last 10 years i have become more submissive, for me its like every decission i made was wrong, this has had an impact on me greatly and now i am very submissive, lacking in confidence and not wanting to have to make decissions
Open mindedness is often cofused with weakness of character. PK Shaw |

I am so submissive that children have bossed me around.
It is scarey to become agressive, especially if in a hospital setting and people know of my dx.
Had a para medic stand between his partner and I, simply because they had found a bottle of seroquel with my name on it, on Sunday. the day mom went to hospital,
Note to self: ask God what His plans are, for me, for the day. . |
