Dear Members, PROPOSAL Would it be helpful if a member could ask another member to be his/her "mentor". This is the same concept as someone in AA asking another member (with more sobriety) if they would be their "sponsor". The mentor would contact the member every week or so to "touch bases" with the member. The nature of their interaction would be supportive (not just giving advice). The mentor would have to be the same sex as the member who is requesting the mentor. Likewise, the mentor would have to be 18 or older. Each member could only have one mentor at a time. We are in the process of creating private blogs for each community member (similar to Face Book). The mentor could have private chats with the member in his/her blog. There will be another part of the member's blog where the member's friends could post their comments when visiting the blog. PURPOSE We believe that members should each have their own blog in which they communicate with their friends. This blog would contain their Mood Calendar and would also archive their posts that appear on the community bulletin board. This blog would also provide a private place for mentor-member communication. What do you think of this proposal? Mark and I would really appreciate your feedback before we start programming this feature. Phil Long M.D. Administrator |

I definately think this could be a beneficial service. But, how would metors be chosen? To make sure they are a good fit? Would there be suggested matches? ANd I have benefited in the past by having someone to be "accountable" to when making changes and trying to meet personal goals.
Just some questions. And I thank you for constantly trying to improve this community. Makes it a great place to share our experiences.

Good questions Dizzy, Selection of Mentors We thought that, after reading our community bulletin boards, a member would be able to pick their own mentor. Our administrative staff would process the actual requests for mentors. In that way, we would ensure that the mentor was the same sex, aged 18 or older, and not already "over-booked" with requests. Also, if the administrative staff felt that a member wasn't ready to be a mentor, we would politely decline the request. (We would ask you to trust us on this.) Duration of Mentoring We should vote on how long the mentoring should last. For example, if the mentoring lasted only 3 months, it would allow the member to select another mentor to gain a different viewpoint. Likewise, after 3 months, the mentor would be free to help another member. Administratively, I am worried about quickly "using up" all our potential mentors if the duration of the mentoring is too long. I would welcome your ideas on how long this mentoring should last. Dr. Long, I think 3 months sounds reasonable. It's not so long that it feels overwhelming, but long enough that the people involved can make some progress. It seems like a good idea. I would like to see how it works in reality.

Dear Members,
As a community, I would like us to arrive at a consensus on what we think the role of a mentor should be.
What should (and should not) our mentors do to help our members? How often should they visit in a week? Should the member and the mentor agree of set times for chats within the personal blog? Should the mentor have access to the members (paid subscription) diary?

I think it would be great to have a mentor... I wouldn't be able to be a mentor though, lol... I'm only ALMOST 17.
I think everyone on MT is fantastic, so I don't know who I'd want.
Jody Waiting for your call, I'm sick, call I'm angry, call I'm desperate for your voice, I'm listening to the song we used to sing, in the car, do you remember, Butterfly, Early Summer, is playing on repeat, just like when we would meet
I was born to tell you I love you and I am torn to do what I have to, to make you mine, stay with me tonight |

Mood disorder happens due to anxiety process in the mind of a person. This community will help those kind of blog https://essay-reviewer.com/paperell-com-review/ and proper coaching will be given to them taking out of that situation. |
