Hi, I'm new here, and found this site when researching the effects of stopping Effexor. Depression runs in my family, and I also have a chronic medical condtion called Intracranial Hypertension, which is where there is too much cerebro spinal fluid in my body, and it pushes into my brain, causing severe headaches, neck and shoulder pain, and potential vision loss. I've recently begun taking Cymbalta, and it seems to be working for the most part, however just dealing with chronic pain in addition to the familial link of depression is difficult, no matter what meds I take. I look forward to knowing you all better, and hope I can gain and share information and support with you.
Hi Babs, I'm relatively new on this site too. I also have a genetic link with depression - my mother and grandmother both suffered from it and other things like OCD through their lives. It is frustrating because my sister seems to have escaped the depression gene. Of course I'm glad for her, but I would have liked to have missed it too. My biggest fear is my daughter will inherit my depression. I would give my life if I knew she wouldn't have to go through what I have been through. I'm sorry you have the dual problem of chronic pain and mental health problems. It must be so hard for you. Good luck and welcome........MelbournePhoenix (Glenn)
