So, my aunt and I seem to think i may be bipolar due to the fact that my mood changes so often. And doesnt even really need a trigger to do it. I could be happy and laughing one moment, and then next be in such a BLAH mood. I'm sure you all know what a blah mood is, if not let me know. Do you think i could be bipolar? If so what do i need to do about it?
Possibly you might be diagnosed with either Bipolar I or Bipolar II Disorder. My suggestion: consult a psychiatrist.
Hi, I am a new member and I am very glad to be here. I have bipolar 2 disorder, I have been suffering for years unfortunately:( When I was a child, it was not very easy to be diagnosed, I was diagnosed in 2002 for the first time. Then I started to take several drugs, only zyprexa was good among them. I also use efexor xr and depakin chrono. But unfortunately, I could not find a good doctor who cares about my problem, in the mean time I live in Turkey where the doctors only think of earning money!!!!! Well, in my family noone is bipolar, but I am suspicious about my grandma, since she committed suicide by burning herself! If you have any suggestions for me please do not hesitate to contact, I really need a professional advice.

i was MISDIAGNOSED as Bipolar I and then Bipolar II for 8 YEARS! i have Major Depression, Recurrent, Severe, without psychotic features... very similar symtomotology. MAKE them get it right! response to antidepressants is very helpful in receiving a correct diagnosis. make sure you have a list of your responses to all the meds you have tried. i wish you the best. *hearts rara~
xo, first, we're hardly qualified to give you a diagnosis! You need a psychiatrist to talk to you and diagnose you. You and your aunt guessing isn't exactly getting you professional help. BPD often comes in tandem with other mental health issues (I have Generalized Anxiety Disorder), so it can be hard to separate those out.
Dr. Jim Phelps' book Why am I Still Depressed? has been my reference book for anything that comes up. It's easy to read and helped me greatly when I was newly diagnosed and needed something to help me understand what was going on (or, rather, what had always been going on).
Emotional shifts that are unrelated to external events is often related to BPD. That's the key, really - we have little control over our emotions.
But a diagnosis and a course of meds can help a lot.
So if you seriously think you may be BPD, see a pdoc and get that diagnosis.

For what it's worth, I had major mood swings after having my son. I didn't notice them, but my father did. To me, I was hopeful one minute, then in despair the next. but to me it was normal, as I was trying to adjust to being a single mom. Only a P- Doc would know for sure. I am BP 1. If you ask me, I'm a lazy drug addicted, (clons) shiftless, so and so.
Note to self: ask God what His plans are, for me, for the day. .
There is much more to being beipolar than just some ups and downs. I have been having ups and down recently but they have not been mania or depression in the true medical sense. WHen I had depression in the true medical sense I thought i was damned in hell and being tortured and I was really evil, which was kind of ironic sence my concience had become quite strong
You need to get to a doctor to get properly diagnosed. I am calm and stable now only because I am on a lot of medication. If you do have manic depression you need to be medicated, and its important yousee a psydoc.
