Hi, I'm new here, so I apologize if this has been addressed before...
I've been off a combination of Prozac and Xanax for about a month or so now, and the withdrawal symptoms have gotten pretty bad. As I type, I can't feel my fingertips, I feel really dizzy and lethargic, and I'm prone to crying uncontrollably or blowing up at people. I have a 1-year old and a 3-year old, which makes me nervous, cause I've either been yelling or not having enough energy to do anything with them. I feel awful, because I don't want them to have to go through this as well (right now, my 3-year old is over at my mother-in-law's, and the 1-year old is taking a nap). Anyway, I'm going through a sticky (although temporary?) financial situation, where we don't have enough money for food, let alone prescriptions. So, when I ran out last month, I just stopped cold-turkey because I didn't have the cash to cover the co-pay. PLEASE HELP....any advice would definately be appreciated...I've Googled "Withdrawal from Prozac", but all the info I get is about getting back on the medicine, ASAP, which I understand, but I don't know when I'll be able to do that. Thank You for your time/concern! |

Hi LaurieEonta, Xanax is potentially addictive, having withdrawal symptoms.
Prozac is non-addictive.
Do you consult with a psychiatrist for med management? -EA

Oh laurie, I do hope you get well. I just posted w/ some similar delimas.
Please try to call your prescribing doctor and see if he can give you some samples; or get the prozac on credit somehow.
blessings to you.
i had serious withdraws from an alcohol and xanax run - my hands shook for over a month when in a specific position.
Please try to eat healthy fresh vegi's and fruits, drink water, exercise, breath deep (yoga) and pray (regardless if you believe or not). These are the things I suggest, also any free support group in your area for your issues at hand.
update: oh, i just noticed the original post was posted in june '07. oh well, the advise still applies. |

Please call your doctor and ask for the generic of prozac. (shame on him for not telling you) The generic for prozac is Fluoxetine. Then head straight to Walgreens with your presciption. Join the Walgreens prescription club for $20 a year, and then you can the purchase 90 pills for $12. By the way, it takes at least 30 days or more for the drug to begin to work. |
